Cabot Strait

Cabot Strait, channel connecting the Gulf of St Lawrence with the Atlantic Ocean, between Cape Breton Island and Newfoundland Island, south-eastern Canada. The channel is about 100 km (62 mi) wide. It is part of an important shipping route. Ferries cross Cabot Strait, between the two islands. The channel is named after the English navigator John Cabot.
