Introduction

Brussels (French, Bruxelles, Dutch, Brussel), city in central Belgium, capital and largest city of the country. It is also the capital of the province of Brabant, on the Senne River, near Antwerp, and the headquarters of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Population 145,917 (2007 estimate).
