III. Treaty of Paris, 1783

The Treaty of Paris signed on September 3, 1783, by Britain and the United States concluded the American War of Independence. By its terms, Britain recognized its former 13 colonies as the free and sovereign United States of America. On the same day, Great Britain also signed separate treaties with France, an ally of the United States, and Spain, an ally of France.
