Roman Polanski
After a harrowing childhood at the hands of the Nazis, Polish-Jewish film director Roman Polanski went on to make films that have often been tense, emotionally charged, psychological studies. Among his best-known films are Repulsion (1965), Rosemary’s Baby (1968), Chinatown (1974), Tess (1979), and The Pianist (2002). In 1969, Polanski’s wife, Sharon Tate, was murdered by the “family” of cult guru Charles Manson.
