Vivien Leigh
The British actress Vivien Leigh became a star when she played Scarlett O'Hara in Victor Fleming's opulent civil war melodrama Gone With the Wind (1939), for which she won the Best Actress Academy Award. Other notable films in which she starred were Elia Kazan's A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), as Blanche DuBois, and Ship of Fools (1965). From 1940 to 1961 she was married to the British actor Laurence Olivier.
