Island Art

Island Art
A worker repairs the Men's Council House in the Republic of Palau. The façade of the house depicts the history of the islands. Much of the construction done in Palau incorporates island art. Most people live in traditional villages, and most are Christians. Christianity supplanted the indigenous Palauan religion of ancestral and natural spirits. Women dominate Palauan society, controlling the land, titles, and money.
