Traditional Accordion of Sardinia

The accordion was introduced to Sardinia from mainland Italy at the end of the 19th century. It is generally used to accompany traditional village dances, particularly the ballu tunfu, or “round dance”. The small, diatonic accordion is called organetto in Italian.
