Ziggurat at Ur
Within the ancient city of Ur in Mesopotamia stands the ziggurat dedicated to the Sumerian Moon god Nanna. Ziggurats were religious temple towers usually made from mudbrick. The ziggurat of Ur dates from the reign of Ur-Nammu (2113-2095 bc) and stands 21 m (70 ft) high. The scale of the building can be seen from the people walking at the bottom of the rampart.
