Alexandria is Egypt’s major port and second largest city. It was founded by Alexander the Great in the 4th century bc. Alexandria lies on the western edge of the Nile delta on the Mediterranean Sea. Its harbour is divided in two by a T-shaped peninsula. This view shows the modern city skyline from the eastern harbour.
