Bernard Montgomery

Bernard Montgomery
General Montgomery speaks to the company of a battleship of the Home Fleet during World War II. In 1942, as Commander of the British Eighth Army in Africa, he expelled German-Italian forces from North Africa at the Battle of El ’Alamein. This was the first significant British land victory of the conflict. Montgomery was made a viscount in 1946.
