Alfred Adler

Alfred Adler
Alfred Adler's approach to psychoanalysis was governed by his belief that conscious or subconscious feelings of inferiority, which he called the inferiority complex, combined with compensatory defence mechanisms, were the basic causes of psychopathological behaviour. For Adler, discovering and rationalizing such feelings in patients was therefore a key element of psychoanalysis.
