Upright Birthwort

Upright Birthwort
The upright birthwort (Aristolochia clematitis) grows in central Europe, whereas most species of the Aristolochia genus are found in the tropics and subtropics of America. Their flowers are foul-smelling and attract flies. They are also shaped so that a fly becomes trapped when it enters. This ensures that the fly picks up pollen on its body before it is released.
