Tonsillectomy
Tonsillectomy is surgery performed to treat recurring cases of tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils) or a tonsillar abscess (severe infection). The surgeon uses a scalpel to cut each tonsil away from the back of the throat. Forceps lend precision to the use of the scalpel and are used to remove the tonsils once they have been excised.
