| Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city is known for its many mosques, which were built when the Ottoman Turks ruled the city from the 1400s until 1878. This photo was taken before civil war broke out in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992, destroying much of Sarajevo’s distinctive architecture. | ||||||
