Fishing on Newfoundland Island
Fishing has been an important economic activity in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador throughout much of its history. Here, fishermen haul a cod trap aboard as they fish off the coast of Cape Spear, the easternmost point in North America. In Newfoundland and Labrador, cod are harvested at more than double the volume of any other marine catch.
