Eleanor Roosevelt was widely admired for her humanitarian work. As the wife of US President Franklin Roosevelt, she travelled throughout the world and became a champion of equal rights for minority groups. After her husband’s death in 1945, Roosevelt served as a delegate to the United Nations General Assembly, where she helped draft the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
