Sets Create the Illusion of Reality
If a film-goer believes that this scene is taking place on the main street of an old western town, the set designer has done a good job. These actors and their trained horses depend on a believable set to back up their acting. Designers may go to incredible lengths to create convincing sets, using false fronts that create the illusion that they are substantial brick buildings.
