Japanese Samurai in Armour

Japanese Samurai in Armour
A distinct social class, the samurai served powerful clans called daimyo and the military dictators, or shoguns, who ruled Japan from the 12th century until 1868. The samurai lived by a rigid code of conduct called Bushido, or “the way of the warrior”, which encompassed ideals of loyalty and sacrifice.
