Circus Maximus
This large grass-covered area is the site of the Circus Maximus, the best-known ancient Roman circus. It was in use from 600 bc to 600 ad, and could hold about 200,000 spectators. Events seen at the Circus Maximus included chariot races and combats between men and wild animals.
