Louis B. Mayer

Louis B. Mayer
The American film executive Louis B. Mayer founded his own production company in Los Angeles in 1916. By 1924, after several mergers, it was known as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), with Mayer as its production chief. In that capacity, Mayer discovered many of the film stars of the era. Among his many exceptional productions were The Big Parade (1925), Grand Hotel (1932), and Dinner at Eight (1933).
