Michel Fokine

Michel Fokine
Russian dancer and choreographer Michel Fokine joined the Imperial Ballet in 1898. Unsatisfied with the state of his chosen art, he began to reintegrate the elements of ballet to create a greater dramatic whole. He worked with many prestigious artists, including Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, for whom he choreographed The Dying Swan in 1905, and Russian-born composer Igor Stravinsky, who wrote The Firebird, which Fokine choreographed in 1910.
