| Russian dancer and choreographer Michel Fokine joined the Imperial Ballet in 1898. Unsatisfied with the state of his chosen art, he began to reintegrate the elements of ballet to create a greater dramatic whole. He worked with many prestigious artists, including Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova, for whom he choreographed The Dying Swan in 1905, and Russian-born composer Igor Stravinsky, who wrote The Firebird, which Fokine choreographed in 1910. | ||||||
