Vision of St Jerome

Vision of St Jerome
Florentine painter Andrea del Castagno was an important figure of the early Renaissance in Italy, creating emotionally intense works of great realism. In his Vision of St Jerome (1454-1455), a penitent Jerome, surrounded by SS Paola and Eustochium, beats his chest with a rock as the Holy Trinity floats above the group. The fresco is located in the Church of Santissima Annunziata, Florence, Italy.
