St George and the Dragon

St George and the Dragon
The best-known legend associated with St George is that in which he slays a dragon, and delivers a town from its menace. This painting, by the 15th-century Italian artist Paolo Uccello, shows the hero driving his lance through the beast’s head, while the daughter of the king, sent out to await the dragon, looks on.
