Grande Odalisque

Grande Odalisque
Grande Odalisque (1814), by J. A. D. Ingres, is considered a Neo-Classical painting even though the subject matter, a Turkish odalisque, is not typical of Neo-Classicism. Ingres’s work is generally believed to have been influenced by Classical Greek. He is best known for his sensual treatment of the human figure using delicately shaded contours and a rhythmic flow.
