Carved Native American Figure

Carved Native American Figure
This near-lifesize figure of a Native American trapper (c. 1850-1890) was carved from a single pine log. The trapper is dressed in the buckskin trousers, braces, shirt, and hat commonly worn by white trappers and frontiersmen. The decorative wooden pieces attached to the figure’s legs and arms were originally plugs for bottles and ewers.
