Wawel Cathedral, Kraków
The Gothic Wawel Cathedral in Kraków, Poland, was used for the coronation ceremonies of Polish kings and as a burial place for many of the country’s famous historical figures. In 1359 the cathedral was consecrated and dedicated to the memory of St Stanislaus, who was killed before the altar in 1079 by the order of King Boleslav II.
