Colline Metallifere, Tuscany

The Colline Metallifere, in Tuscany, Italy, are a range of mostly wooded hills rich in minerals. Mining has taken place here for centuries, and includes the extraction of iron, magnesium, borax, and mercury. The region has been settled and its resources exploited at least since Etruscan times.
