Ray Ewry
Despite having polio as a child, American athlete Ray Ewry won a total of eight Olympic gold medals. At his first Olympic Games, in 1900 in Paris, he won three gold medals in one day. His speciality was in long-discontinued jumping events—the standing long jump, the standing high jump, and the standing triple jump.
