Harlech Castle, North Wales

Harlech Castle, North Wales
Harlech Castle, on the north-west coast of Wales, was one of the six Welsh strongholds that Edward I built in the late 13th century. It is built on a rectangular plan, with a four-towered gatehouse and an inner yard set with a round tower at each corner. The castle is now a ruin.
