Gertrude Stein in Her Salon

Gertrude Stein in Her Salon
The American experimental writer Gertrude Stein moved to Paris in 1903 with her companion, Alice B. Toklas. There, while publishing numerous works of her own, she also became known as a strong supporter of the arts. She encouraged the American writers Ernest Hemingway and Thornton Wilder, and the French artist Henri Matisse and Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.
