John Boorman
Director and producer John Boorman has created a varied body of work over a long and distinguished career that began in documentaries. His films are often allegorical—such as Excalibur (1981) and The Emerald Forest (1985)—yet some of his most noteworthy work has been in the genre of the action-thriller, such as Point Blank (1967), Deliverance (1972), and The General (1998), which won him the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
