| The town of Ephesus in Turkey was the site of an ancient Greek city situated on the west coast of Asia Minor. The Arcadian Way, shown here, is a marble street constructed during the reign of Emperor Arcadius (395-408). The street runs from middle harbour gate to the theatre, also shown. This Graeco-Roman theatre was built during the Hellenistic period. Later rulers changed the structure of the building, and the ruins remaining today appear to be completely Roman. | ||||||
