St Mark's Cathedral, Venice |

| In its original form, dating from 829-832, St Mark's cathedral was built to house the body of St Mark when it was brought from Alexandria to Venice in 828. The present basilica dates from the 11th century. The rounded arches and domes are clearly influenced by the style of Byzantine religious architecture. | ||||||
