John Ford

American film-maker John Ford was one of the most influential directors of the Western in the history of cinema. The dialogue in his films is often poetic and deals with the colonization of North America. Pioneering films in this genre include Stagecoach (1939) and The Searchers (1956). Ford was awarded 6 Oscars.
