Dyrham Park, Gloucestershire
Meaning “deer enclosure”, Dyrham Park is set within 109 hectares (268 acres) of ancient parkland which is still grazed by fallow deer. The Baroque mansion was begun in 1691 for William Blathwayt, a politician and diplomat, and contains many of his possessions. William Talman, the architect of Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, is responsible for the Italianate extension.
