In 1977 Star Wars started the trend for big-budget films using state-of-the-art special effects as never before. Written and directed by George Lucas, the film won numerous Academy Awards and nominations, and continues to be regarded as a classic today—indeed, Star Wars may without exaggeration be classed as a cultural phenomenon. This still shows the character Chewbacca (played by Peter Mayhew) with Harrison Ford in his first leading role as Han Solo.
