Florence Cathedral

Florence Cathedral
Chiefly on account of its magnificent dome, a feat of engineering on the part of its designer Filippo Brunelleschi, Florence Cathedral has stood as a symbol of civic pride in the city since the early Renaissance. The free-standing campanile (left), designed by Giotto, was completed in 1359.
