Morecambe and Wise

Morecambe and Wise
Eric Morecambe (right) and Ernie Wise (left) teamed up in 1943 to become one of Britain’s most popular comedy double acts. ATV (Associated Television) offered them the Morecambe and Wise Show in 1961, scripted by Sid Green and Dick Hills. In 1968 they moved over to the BBC where Eddia Braben scripted their finest work. The popularity of Morecambe and Wise’s act was largely due to their exaggerated characteristics—Ernie’s pomposity and Eric’s boyish anarchy, delivered with impeccable timing.
