The New Look

The New Look of the 1950s, with its full skirt (requiring a large quantity of fabric), reflected a reaction to post-war austerity. This cocktail dress of 1955, with typical accessories of broad hat and high-heeled shoes, was created by the London designer Ronald Paterson.
