Many types of stone were used as cylinder seals in Mesopotamia and would generally depict a deity, religious rite, or other activity. This cylinder seal of Shar-kali-sharri, King of Akkad, Mesopotamia, is made of black marble and dates from c. 2340 to 2100 bc. It is in the Musée du Louvre in Paris, France.
