| The English science-fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke's short story "The Sentinel" served as the inspiration for Stanley Kubrick's famous film 2001: a Space Odyssey (1968). His novel Rendezvous with Rama (1973) became a bestseller and spawned a number of sequels: Rama II (1989), The Garden of Rama (1991), and Rama Revealed (1993). | ||||||
