French Lavender

French Lavender
This aromatic plant, Lavandula stoechas, originates from the Mediterranean region and is therefore suited to full sun, good drainage, and mild temperatures, although this species is hardy to about -10°C. It is also drought tolerant. The vivid purple flowers consist of floral bracts ("bunny ears") on top of the flower spike. The leaves are grey-green. It has long been cultivated for perfumes, and for use in medicine as an antiseptic and for its soothing properties.
