Mahón, Minorca

Minorca, the most eastern of the Balearic Islands, is characterized by its beautiful and tranquil beaches. Only at Mahón do the beaches give way to a small bay, which accommodates the island’s port. The town is the commercial and recreational centre of Minorca. Mahón extends along the inlet on two levels: the lower area (foreground) runs parallel to the coastline on a narrow strip of land, while the higher area (background) is much wider and therefore more settled.
