Church of Pan Bendito, Lalibela (Ethiopia)

Church of Pan Bendito, Lalibela (Ethiopia)
A priest stands in the doorway of one of 11 churches carved into the volcanic rock of Lalibela, Ethiopia. The magnificent edifices were carved during the 12th and 13th centuries and worked on by stonemasons from Syria, Greece, and India. They are connected by a maze of narrow underground passageways. Lalibela is a popular destination for Christian Ethiopian pilgrims.
