Robert Peel

Robert Peel
Sir Robert Peel was Prime Minister of Great Britain for four months in 1834-1835. Prior to holding office, as Home Secretary, he was responsible for reorganizing London’s police force; their nickname, “bobbies”, is derived from Peel’s first name. He is also responsible for introducing the Catholic Emancipation Act of 1829, which gave political equality to Roman Catholics.
