Cardiff Bay

Cardiff Bay
Cardiff Bay has one of the greatest tidal ranges in the world, causing extensive mudflats to be revealed at low tide. The new Cardiff Barrage, completed in 1999, provides a completely different environment, to the concern of many environmentalists. The mudflats are permanently inundated, destroying important feeding grounds for large numbers of wading birds. To compensate, a new wildlife habitat was created further along the coast.
