Liverpool's Catholic Cathedral

Liverpool's Catholic Cathedral
Sir Frederick Gibberd, architect of Liverpool’s Catholic cathedral, conceived the building as a huge circular space, the focus of which is the centrally placed altar. It was designed in 1953 but was consecrated in 1967. The lantern that rises up above the cone-shaped structure is set with stained glass that bathes the altar in light.
