Fountains Abbey

Fountains Abbey
Fountains Abbey, in North Yorkshire, founded in 1132, became the richest Cistercian monastery in England. Although a ruin, it is also one of the best preserved; the ground plan survives intact and the system of water supply and drainage can still be seen.
