Ernst Lubitsch

Ernst Lubitsch
German-born American film director Ernst Lubitsch, who began his career at the end of the 1910s in Germany and continued in Hollywood at the beginning of the 1920s, is regarded as the master of ironic, frivolous comedies—a style which coined the expression the "Lubitsch-Touch". Among his best works in America were Trouble in Paradise (1932), Bluebeard's Eighth Wife (1938), and Ninotschka (1939).
