Louis IV

Louis IV
The reign of Holy Roman Emperor Louis IV was marked by serious conflicts, first of all with his rival to the imperial throne, Frederick III, then by the conflict with the papacy which in 1324 led to his excommunication. Louis duly invaded Rome and had himself crowned by force. He later supported both English and French sides alternately in the Hundred Years War.
